During the colonial times when many european families were moving to Mexico, their children brought expensive dolls (porcelain) clothed in fine garments. The vast vast majority of the countries population were bellow poverty standards therefore, those who had kids could not afford those expensive toys. So these dolls are the combination of accessible raw materials (krafts paper, newspaper) and the inspiration of the european dolls. Artist Leticia Rodarte brings her own childhood favorite dolls back to life, more sophisticated and with her own personal touch. Made with recycled material, hand painted with acrylics, and gold leaf. Height 16"
